Halloween 2009

Two peas in a pod... Fireman Sean...

Where does the time go?

It's Halloween 2009, 7:30 in the morning, the kids are asleep and I'm finally updating. I know, I know...shame on me! The reason I started this blog was to keep a "diary" of the Nelson's, especially writing about the kids. I was looking back at all the past posts and there are so many written about Sean. The last time I updated about the twins, they were 3 months old. Well, now they are 8 months old!! Time just goes by and plus, who has the time, right?

Sean has been such a good big brother. He loves his sister and brother. Sometimes too much where he wants to cuddle them, but doesn't know his own strength! He helps out by playing with them, and entertaining them. Sometimes, having two baby siblings can be very hard on him. All the attention that he was used to is now suddenly shared and he doesn't like that. I just keep telling him and MYSELF, that next year this time will be easier. He is talking so much sometimes I feel like I'm talking to a little adult! He's the average boy who loves trucks, football and rock n roll! We are convinced that he may be a star football player, or a country singer. His favorites are Keith Urban and Rascal Flatts. Pretty soon, Troy and I will be looking into preschools. Ugh! My baby...starting school :(

The twins are keeping me busy! They are just getting over their first cold and it was miserable! Turns out Seth had an ear infection! Poor guy. Sami lost her voice! Other than that, they are doing great! They are now on solids, sitting up and enjoy playing with each other. Just the other day, they were fighting for a toy! LOL! I think Sami won ;) Tonight is their first Halloween, but it looks like we are staying in because they are both sick. Too bad, because their costume was the cutest ~Two peas in a pod!
In one of my past posts, I mentioned that I was laid off. That was a hard time for us. So many unknowns and stress with three kids and a hefty mortgage. Thankfully, I received a phone call in late August and was hired back. Not only was I hired back, but I was offered the position that I was hoping for. So, now I am teaching part time, first grade back at Milani Elementary! I swear, I can't get myself to leave that school! I started teaching there in 1998, left in 2004 to move to Virginia, and came back in 2006, when we moved back to California! It's all good! I'm grateful to be teaching part time so I can take care of my babies at home.

Troy is doing great. He still works for World Airways and enjoys the benefits of flying all over the world. The schedule can be pretty gruesome, but he's a trooper. His upcoming trip includes a long layover in Milan, Italy. He's looking forward to seeing Leonardo da Vinci's painting of The Last Supper.

We are looking forward to many first's in the upcoming months...the twins first Thanksgiving and Christmas, and in February, their first birthday! There will be lots of celebrating! In the meantime, here are some recent shots and I promise to be more diligent in updating the Nelson News.

Happy Anniversary!

I can't believe that 5 years ago today, Troy and I were married! Since that time, we've been through so many life changing events! Let's just say our marriage has never had a dull moment! After we got married, I relocated to Virginia. I left family and friends to be with my husband in a new state, found a new job and had to make new friends. Those two years in VA were not easy, but I managed. Thankfully Troy found a new job which allowed us to move back to the Bay Area and be closer to family! After that everything just happened so fast...we bought a house, got pregnant, had Sean...got pregnant again...had twins...Seth and Sami!!! Oh my! Happy Anniversary honey and I can't wait to see what God has in store for us in the next 5 years!

More precious moments...

Here is the latest picture of the kids. Look how much they've grown! Sean is such a happy big brother! He is 2 years old and has a lot to say and is very interested in everything! His favorite question is "What's that?" He will ask this over and over, that it can become very annoying!! We love how curious he is though and we are very proud of him! Seth is growing more and more everyday! I can't believe that this little 4 pound boy at birth is now 15lbs! He is an amazing eater and is such a joy! He is our laid back Seth - Loves to eat and sleep!! Samantha is our little DIVA! We call her Sami...and she has a big attitude!! She's a flirt with her little smile and such a firecracker when she's fussy! AAH! This little girl keeps me on my toes. It's so amazing how the twins have such different personalities!
Some of you may have heard, I was one of the unfortunate teachers that received a pink slip and later laid off. I have been a teacher for 12 years, but lost my seniority at my school district when I left in 2004 to live in Virginia. Who would've known that in 2 years we would be back in California and me back working at the same school district! As of now, I am unemployed and questioning whether I want to pursue a career in teaching or in anything?!?! I've been home since last November from maternity leave and really love being home with the kids! Recently, my school had an end of the year party and sadly had to say goodbye to me and several other teachers. My long time friend and co-worker said a few words about me in front of the staff and made me cry!! It was a sweet gesture and I am forever thankful for her words and for being a great partner of our first grade team! I'll miss working with you Lilia!!

My last class at Milani with me and the twins!
When I found out I was pregnant with twins, I immediately sought out for help!! Help from moms who've been or will be in my shoes! Tri City MoMs - (moms of multiples) was an answer to a prayer. I've met some wonderful ladies who have given me some great advice, a shoulder to cry on and prayers in order for me to stay strong and hang in there. Once in awhile we meet at a local coffee house with our beloved multiples and chat, chat, chat! It's such a fun time and such a joy to see all these twins! Two MoMs in particular have been such a Godsend! My friend Janine has 4 kids~a 5 year old, a toddler and twin girls...oh my!! Another friend is Tami. She has 4 kids as well ~ a teenager, a toddler and twin girls!! Both are such amazing MoMs and such good listeners. I've called or emailed them many times for help and they've always been there! Thanks ladies!!

Some precious moments...

We recently celebrated my nephews' birthdays. The party was a fun filled day of water slides, pinatas and BBQ! Sean, being the shy guy that he is (just like his father), excluded himself from the water fun and had his own grand time with this truck!
He did join the group when they were hitting the pinata. He had few good hits! Once the pinata broke open, he went for the CANDY!Nana and Seth
Once again my sister outdid herself and made birthday cakes for her boys.

Finally, A Chance to Update...

Whew! The Nelson household have been very BUSY! Who has time to Blog, right? Sorry folks for not updating lately, it's been quite a few weeks. Here's what's going on...Troy and I are beginning to get a handle of being parents to three children. There have been times when the stress has gotten the better of us, but we are trying to work through the tough times and trying to stay sane. Although times are tough, we are in agreement that we have the most beautiful kids ever! Sean is growing and talking so much these days! It is so funny to have a conversation with him. His new passion is trucks! He got a lot of trucks for his birthday and plays, plays, plays! He loves his brother and sister and enjoys playing with them by letting them kick his back as they lay flat on the floor. When the babies are upset, he is the first to go and comfort them by giving them their pacifier or rubbing their legs. He helps with bottle feeding and burping! There are times when he wishes all attention was towards him still, but he is adjusting well. Seth is getting so big! Last check up he weighed over 10 lbs and we are convinced that he is close to 15lbs!! He eats like there is no tomorrow!! He is still my calm and cool kid that loves to eat and sleep! Sami is still my mover and shaker! She is a lot more fussy, but still is sweet with her little smiles at mommy, daddy and brother Sean! At her last check up she weighed 9lbs. She is a lot more lean than Seth and likes to stay awake for most of the day!! She loves to lay on a play mat and stretch her little body. I say, she's doing her Jane Fonda workout! They are both sleeping through longer stretches at night, so that gives Troy and I a little extra rest. We both can't wait until they can sleep through the night. I had a great mother's day with the family at my mom's house. After church we went to my mom's for a BBQ. It was a beautiful day!

My Wish

For Sean, Seth and Samantha...

I hope the days come easy and the moments pass slow
And each road leads you where you want to go
And if you’re faced with the choice and you have to choose
I hope you choose the one that means the most to you
And if one door opens to another door closed
I hope you keep on walkin’ ‘til you find the window
If it’s cold outside, show the world the warmth of your smile
But more than anything, more than anything
My wish for you
Is that this life becomes all that you want it to
Your dreams stay big, your worries stay small
You never need to carry more than you can hold
And while you’re out there gettin’ where you’re gettin’ to
I hope you know somebody loves you
And wants the same things too
this is my wish
I hope you never look back but you never forget
All the ones who love you And the place you left
I hope you always forgive and you never regret
And you help somebody every chance you get
You find God’s grace in every mistake
And always give more than you take
This is my wish
